The best place to have Malaiyo is in Thatheri Bazar, which lies in the old Banaras. It is only available during the winter, so why not if you are here during that time? It is made from milk, sugar, saffron, and cardamom and served in an earthenware dish.

- Banarsi Paan is famous all over the world after becoming part of the dinner menu of Barack Obama, but be warned, paan is highly addictive.

- Perhaps unsurprisingly, a bhang shake is one of the most popular recreational drugs in Varanasi that assures to get you high. Bhang is dried cannabis which is served in a chilled glass of thandai.
